My name is Brandon L. Barbrey, and for sixteen years I have dedicated my life to serving and protecting the people of Wilson County. I began my career with the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office in 2010, starting in the Detention Center and working my way through Patrol, Special Operations/Narcotics, Investigations, and now serving as a Major over both the Criminal Investigations Bureau and the Detention Center.
I chose to spend my entire career in this agency because Wilson County is home to me. This agency and the people of this community raised me. This community is where my children are being raised, and where I have chosen to spend my life. Every assignment, every case, every shift, every challenge, has shaped the leader that I am today.
I’ve seen firsthand the threats facing our county: violent offenders, drug traffickers, gangs, repeat criminals, and the rapidly evolving dangers of technology-driven crime. As a former member of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, I aggressively pursued child predators who target our youth online. Protecting children from exploitation is deeply personal to me, and it will remain one of my highest priorities as Sheriff.
I have served this community and my agency in specialized roles on our Special Response Team as an operator, assistant team leader, team leader and commander. I have served on our Search and Recovery Dive Team & as a member of the Homeland Security Investigations Task Force. I have dedicated my life and career to proactive enforcement of the law.
I have also worked to push our agency forward technologically, recognizing that the future of law enforcement depends on modernization. I have been involved in agency efforts to upgrade digital investigative tools, expand technological capabilities, and lay the foundation for a Real Time Crime Center, giving deputies and detectives the ability to respond faster, identify suspects quicker, and prevent crime more effectively. Technology is no longer optional; it is a critical part of how we keep Wilson County safe.
My leadership has been shaped by experience, but also by the people who invested in me. Strong mentors, extensive training, and real-world education have guided my development as a leader. I believe deeply in training, professional development, and building future leaders within our agency because a well-trained deputy or detention officer is a safer deputy or detention officer, and a safer deputy or detention officer makes a safer community.
I am running for Sheriff because my mission is clear: to build a community where families feel supported, criminals face real consequences, and deputies are equipped with the tools and training they need to keep Wilson County safe. This is about strengthening trust, preventing crime, and standing up for the good, hard-working people who call this county home.
At my core I am a public servant. My career, my values, and my heart are grounded in service, not politics. I pour into our youth through coaching, mentoring, and showing young people that discipline, teamwork, and accountability matter. Leaving a positive, lasting impact on them is one of the greatest honors of my life, because they are the future of Wilson County.
I’m not a politician. I’m a husband, a father, a career law-enforcement leader, and someone who has spent nearly two decades earning the trust of this community through hard work, integrity, and dedication. I am running for Sheriff to continue that service, with strong leadership, modern solutions, and an unwavering commitment to the people of Wilson County.
